Just heard on talk sport with Beecroft and Brazil that Pennant is on the Greek island of Zante with a few footballing mates.

Apparently while walking down the strip in the Greek resort he shouted to a girl standing outside Mcdonalds " what are you doing with that muppet" ( talking about her boyfriend) boyfriend then asked Pennant to repeat what he said.Pennant granted his wish and then got floored by the " muppet".

If this is what happend, fair play to the muppet I say

Thats from a very reliable source isnt it

Footballers will always get dragged into arguements and you will probably find that it was nothing like the "muppet" described.

Well, of course these two have never had a bad word to say about Blues before have they?

The whole thing is hearsay and conjecture, "my mate said" playground garbage

The sort of thing we've come to expect off these two bitter and twisted wannabee celebreties

I cant beleive after all the trouble he has been in he has gone on a lads booze holiday, its ok Sky Andrew once again making excuses for him but he should not be putting himself in the position where he gets punched in the first place.

If he did act the big I am (with 20 mates to back him up) and called the bloke a muppet, the he got what he deserved.

What is it going to take for this bloke to grow up?

A group of lads on holiday will get p-ssed and will say things they shouldn't, I'm sure we've been there.

But for Sky Andrew to imply in the papers that it's because he's being picked on because he's a famous footballer with a past, well to be honest I think Mr Pennant could do with a more adult agent.

So much for him settling with his girlfriend who was such a calming influence on him that the club paid for her to relocate from Bristol to be with him.

Things get out of hand on a lads holiday and people will mouth off after a few drinks but Pennant should be a little more careful given his past.

pennant has only got named cause he is in the bad boy book of tabloid newspapers , and this is from the same tabliod that started the story of forsells medical at everton. I would stick this where it belongs, no doubt pennant was there, but some reporter must have been within 1ft of the action to here what has been said, as the guy who threw the punch apparantly legged it afterwards and wasnt around to give a statement, i can hardly see pennant saying to the press "i gobbed off so he hit me" can you ?

A lot of people have been there, but when you are on a final warning with your job you should conduct yourself better than this.

He should ot be putting himself in the position where this sort of thing happens, it shows he has still not grown up.

He should use John Terry and Jodie Morris as examples, after their trouble a few years ago 1 got his head down stopped boozing nd clubbing and his career blossomed. The other carried on the same way and his career has gone into reverse.

Exactly wildy. Like i said before, it could well be that the "muppet" or his friends have exaggerated this story so it sounds worse than it is.

It is like the Rooney incident a few weeks ago, the "victim" soon retracted his statement.

He's on holiday letting his hair down - HE got punched he didn't punch anyone he ws just having a bit of banter, being a lad.

How has he disgraced the club this time? Thank God he isn't on holiday with Lampard & Rio Ferdiand - I wouldn't want to see his holiday video :P

Its certain countries and i think it also depends on what the criminal record is for. if it was for assualt or affray then it may have been different but DD is a common criminal record which a lot of people have who still travel abroad.

Wildy,

I am not saying he is guilty of anything this time, but the bloke ran off, say he didnt and the 20 blokes Pennant was with kicked it off, we could have been looking at much worse headlines this morining, thankfully the only thing bruised is his ego.

Got in a few scrapes myself when I was younger, it was never my fault, I was always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It got to a point where it threatened my career so I stopped being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its called growing up, Pennant needs to do it now.

Just on a light note, as I do not believe what happened. If the Muppet ran away he must have been very fit cos surely some of the pro footballers would have chased him or even tried to stop the super fast punch. Or perhaps JP was on his own, or perhaps it didnt happen!!

If this story is true - and his agent has not denied it - then I am very disappointed. No good saying the lad is young and just enjoying himself. At his age, many of us had done 2 years national service and were married with kids! Does maturity and responsibility for one's actions develop much later these days?

I am amazed that any athlete's contract does not include banning the intake of alcohol, drugs and tobacco as well as a night-time curfew. After all, clubs pay out phenomenal sums of money in transfer fees and wages so some restrictions are essential in order to protect club assets. Fitness and health cannot be switched on and off; any abuse of the body will affect the system and therefore performance long-term.

Footballers have a very short career and rarely continue beyond the age of 35. Is it too much to expect them to respect the investment made in them by an employer? They will have plenty of time to catch up with boozing and spending the fortune they have amassed if they feel it necessary at that age.
